Please read these Terms of Use carefully. By registering an account or submitting a review, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

1. About the Platform

RateMyAgentNaija is a Nigerian review platform for real estate agents. We provide a space for property buyers, tenants, landlords, and investors (“Reviewers”) to publish honest, experience-based reviews of real estate agents (“Agents”) operating in Nigeria. We do not facilitate property transactions, provide legal advice, or endorse any agent.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to use this platform.
• You must be a Nigerian resident or Nigerian citizen (or be transacting in Nigerian real estate) to submit a review.
• You must provide accurate registration information. False identities will result in immediate account suspension.

3. Review Standards — Reviewers

Reviews must meet all of the following standards:

• Based on a real transaction: You must have genuinely used the agent's services — as a buyer, seller, landlord, tenant, or investor — in the period described.
• First-hand experience: You may not review an agent on behalf of someone else.
• One review per agent per transaction: You may only submit one review per agent. If you had multiple transactions, update or add to your existing review.
• Factual and proportionate: Reviews may be critical but must be factually accurate. Exaggerated or fabricated claims are prohibited.
• No personal attacks: Critique the professional conduct, not the person. No references to ethnicity, religion, gender, or physical appearance.
• No commercial interests: Agents may not review themselves, competitors, or instruct others to leave positive reviews. This constitutes fraud and may result in legal action.

4. Agent Conduct

Registered agents agree to:

• Maintain accurate profile information and update it within 30 days of any change.
• Respond to reviews professionally and factually — response may not contain threats, intimidation, or personal attacks.
• Accept that negative reviews from genuine clients may not be removed simply because they are unflattering.
• Not offer incentives (cash, gifts, discounts) to clients in exchange for reviews.
• Provide accurate LASRERA licence numbers where applicable. Providing a false licence number is fraud.

5. Content Rights

By submitting a review, you grant RateMyAgentNaija a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, display, and distribute that review on the platform and in promotional materials (in full or excerpt). You retain ownership of your content. We will not sell your reviews to third parties.

6. Moderation & Removal

We reserve the right to:

• Edit reviews for length or to remove identifiable third-party personal data (without changing the substance of the review).
• Reject or remove reviews that violate Section 3 above.
• Suspend or permanently ban accounts that repeatedly violate these terms.
• Remove a review if we determine — through our dispute process — that it was fabricated or materially misleading.

We will not remove a genuine negative review simply because an agent disagrees with it.

7. Dispute Resolution

Agents may dispute a review through our structured process:

1. File a dispute via your Agent Dashboard, stating the specific factual inaccuracy.
2. Our moderation team will assess the dispute within 5 business days.
3. The Reviewer may be contacted to provide supporting evidence.
4. We will issue a decision: Uphold (review stays), Amend (minor factual correction), or Remove (review found to be fabricated).
5. Decisions are final unless new material evidence is presented within 14 days.

8. Limitation of Liability

RateMyAgentNaija provides information “as is”. We are not liable for:

• The accuracy of any agent review — reviews are the opinions of the submitting user.
• Any loss arising from reliance on an agent's rating or review when making a property decision.
• Any transaction conducted with an agent found on this platform.
• Service interruptions, data loss, or technical failures beyond our reasonable control.

Our total liability to any user, in any circumstance, shall not exceed ₦50,000 or the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months, whichever is greater.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Lagos State High Court.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. Significant changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
